Céad Míle Fáilte — the Red Deer Highland Games has welcomed us into their community since 1947. Most recently held on the premises of Central Middle School which is a cornerstone of Red Deer's educational landscape for nearly a century, this Highland Games continues to be an integral part of the Alberta piping and drumming outdoor season. Organized by dedicated volunteers and beloved by competitors and community members alike, this year's Games features pipe bands, highland dance, heavy events, piping and drumming competitions, live entertainment, a puppy parade, and a Drum Major clinic and demonstration that you won't want to miss.
DRUM MAJOR WORKSHOP:
Alberta Drum Majors Wes Burnside (Calgary Police Service Pipe Band)and Alan Duguid (Calgary Police Service Pipe Band / Lethbridge Police Service Pipe Band) will be carrying out a hands-on clinic in the morning for anyone who's ever been curious about the Drum Major craft. Learning the basics of how to lead a band around the field, they'll walk you through the fundamentals in a welcoming, no-pressure environment. Look for them during the Opening Ceremonies, featuring the Red Deer & District Pipe Band.
