OGDEN LEGION HIGHLAND GAMES A SUCCESS

The second annual Ogden Legion Indoor Highland Games were held on May 14th, with six pipe bands and dozens of individual competitors descending on Bowness High School in Calgary.

On the individual competition front, there were 19 individual piping events, and 10 drumming events.  Congratulations goes to all of the winners and competitors.  Special mention goes to Jesse Weibe who was awarded as Amateur Piper of the Day, and to Gregory Muchka, who was awarded as Amateur Drummer of the Day.

For the pipe band competition, the “home team” Ogden Legion Pipe Band won the honours as winners of the Grade 4 band competition; with the Edmonton and District Pipe Band coming in second, and the third place prize went to the Edmonton Boys Pipe Band.  In Grade 3, the Edmonton and District Pipe Band won first place, with the Ben Nevis Pipe Band taking second.

Overall, it was a great day, and a good start to the season.  Thanks must go out to Diane Muchka and her team of organizers and volunteers.
